Stay cool and protected from the sun in this stylish, genuine Panama hat, expertly woven in Ecuador. Genuine Panama hats have been worn for centuries with its origins being traced back as far as the 16th Century when the Incas were the first to use the Toquilla plant to produce hats. In England, thanks to their popularity with royalty, the Panama quickly became known as the most fashionable summer hat and remains so to this day.
Every panama hat is unique; created with a skill that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Our ladies' Panama hat is light, airy and comfortable on warm summer days and is designed to last. Made from soft, pliable, yet amazingly strong Toquilla fibres. The straw is so pliable that the hat can even be folded when travelling by simply rolling up and storing in a strong protective tube (supplied).
With a comfortable hood and fashionably floppy brim which can be pushed back or pulled forward as you choose, the hat is finished with attractive braiding in a choice of two colours: Claret or Navy.
Available in one size, the Panama hat can be adjusted for a perfect fit by tightening or loosening the trim on the crown, and has a gentle elastic rim inside to assure comfort.
Interesting Fact: The hat only became known as the Panama when, over a century ago, the workers involved in the construction of the Panama Canal used the elegant fibre hats as protection against the burning sun.
